Finding a suitable level of Magnification

Using this webpage, you can get an idea of what level of magnification you require for reading. Just look at the different sized text boxes below and find the smallest sized text that is perfectly comfortable for you to read.

1x magnification is approximately the same size as 12 point text when displayed on a 17" computer monitor running at a resolution of 1280x1024 pixels (the native resolution for most 17" flat panel screens). 12 point text is a standard text size for letters.

You can find our range of suitable electronic magnifiers here

Some people who require magnification levels of 16 times or above feel that an electronic magnifier becomes more difficult to use due to the concentration required when viewing the extremely large text. This is where our range of easy to use text to speech reading machines may be more suitable.

Please note! This is only meant as a rough guide for determining suitable magnification levels.
