Instantly reads any printed or digital text out loud to you. It is the most sophisticated and efficient reading device available for people with low vision, dyslexia or other reading difficulties.
The first of its kind handheld reader for people with low vision, dyslexia, reading fatigue or other difficulties.
The OrCam Read Smart includes a new feature, Smart Reading. It allows you to simply ask for the text that interests you: “Read the headlines”, “Read amounts”, or “Start from” a specific section (like “desserts” in a menu).
OrCam Read can be used in any environment, including low-light, and without requiring any internet connectivity. The device can be easily used to read any kind of printed or digital text, at home, in the office, or on the go.

The OrCam Read Smart comes with English, French and German languages as standard, additional available languages are: Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch.
Special order devices are needed for other languages.
1) Pointer: Locate the red arrow just below the text you want to read. Allows you to start reading from a specific sentence in your document (rather than having to listen to the entire text)
2) Area: A red rectangle allows low vision users to accurately frame an area of text to read (e.g. a document or a particular paragraph in a newspaper)
- OrCam Read works on both printed and on-screen text (e.g. PC or laptop screen, iPad, mobile phone screen etc.)
- Allows for distance reading of signs, shop names, train and airline information screens, notice boards etc.
- Simple to use voice commands
- OrCam Read requires the user to be able to hear, with or without hearing aids
- OrCam Read also requires the user to have full control over their hand movements

Languages
The OrCam Read Smart is available in multiple different languages.
When purchasing from us you are purchasing a Western European device. It will have English, French and German languages installed as standard. Other available languages in Western Europe are: Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch.
Please note that Smart Reading is only available in English.
We are able to supply devices from different regions as special orders, please note that we cannot mix and match languages from different regions.

How to connect the OrCam Read Smart to WiFi and download software updates
There are 2 ways to connect your OrCam device to WiFi in order to download the latest software updates.
*Please note that your device needs to be connected to the wall charger to connect to WiFi.
On The App (Available on iPhone)
If not already done, download and install the app for your OrCam device.
Download the free OrCam Read App 
- Click on the "Settings" button.
- Connect your device to the wall charger if not already connected.
- Click on "WiFi Settings"
- Select the network you want to connect to
- If you are unsure of what your WiFi network name is, the easiest way to find your WiFi's network name is to check on a device that is already connected to the WiFi and see which network that device is connected to. Some devices you can use would include your smartphone or computer.
- When prompted, enter the WiFi network password
- Your device will now connect to the WiFi, and will reconnect automatically every time you connect your device to the wall charger, provided it is within range of the WiFi network.
- If there are any software updates available your device will automatically download them.
On The OrCam Website
- Open your internet browser and go to: https://www.orcam.com/en/wifiset/
- Enter your network name and password
- If you are unsure of what your WiFi network name is, the easiest way to find your WiFi's network name is to check on a device that is already connected to the WiFi and see which network that device is connected to. Some devices you can use would include your smartphone or computer.
- Click on "Generate QR Code"
- Use your OrCam device to take a picture of the QR code
- On your OrCam Read, use the arrow/pointer laser mode to take a picture of the QR code.
- Your device will now connect to the WiFi, and will reconnect automatically every time you connect your device to the wall charger, provided it is within range of the WiFi network.
- If there are any software updates available your device will automatically download them.
*Connecting to WiFi is not necessary to operate the device. The only reason to connect your device to WiFi is to ensure you have the latest software updates.
*Please note that OrCam devices only support 2.4 Ghz WiFi. OrCam devices currently do not support 5 Ghz WiFi. Please contact your internet service provider for details about your WiFi network frequency.
