OrCam Read 3 is an advanced, portable, and intuitive device designed to assist people with vision loss, reading fatigue, or those who find reading challenging. It offers a variety of features, including next-generation magnification, handheld reading capabilities, and an AI interactive assistant.
OrCam Read 3 uses highly accurate OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to capture and read aloud printed or digital text from any surface. You can use the device at your own pace, reading the text yourself or having OrCam Read 3 read it to you.
The Smart Reading feature is a function that allows you to find and navigate specific words or sections within the text. This makes it easy to jump straight to the information you're interested in.
The Summarisation feature uses AI technology to provide a concise summary of scanned text, from a few sentences to an entire page. This feature requires a Wi-Fi connection, and the text should be in English for it to function.
This feature transforms any screen into a browser-based magnifier. You can zoom in on text, handwriting, photos, graphics, and even math equations. You can extract and customize the text formatting according to your needs and choose to read by yourself or have OrCam Read 3 read aloud to you.
Since the OrCam Read 3 does not come with a built-in screen, you can connect it to a variety of screens, such as a Computer, Laptop, or Tablet. The screen should have an internet connection and a browser. Phones are not supported currently as their screens are too small to use as a magnifier.
Yes, OrCam Read 3 comes with a specially designed stand that turns any screen into a browser-based magnifier for an optimized reading experience.
While many features of OrCam Read 3 can function offline, certain features, such as Summarisation and the upcoming Translation feature, require an active Wi-Fi connection to operate.
Very easy to use. Nice and compact that you can carry about.
I have had the OrCam Read 3 for a few weeks now and am very impressed indeed. As a handheld device, it reads a vast range of text very quickly and accurately. On the stand and linked to my iMac, it is astonishing. It converts even my handwriting to on screen text and then reads it to you. The summarisation feature and “AI questioning” take a bit of getting used to but are very very helpful. It is expensive, but does so many things, that I think it is well worth it. Before purchasing it, I had very comprehensive home demonstration from VisionAid, and a long and most helpful telephone conversation after I had had it a few days. Very highly recommended.

Now enjoying my collection of books that have been sitting unread!
I am particularly happy with a special combination of languages (German, English and Spanish) which VisionAid organised for me.
This device now allows me to read my books again - this was becoming very difficult.
