The VELA Tango 700, 700E and 700E with Power Wheels chairs are the latest models of the popular VELA chair. The chairs offer independence at home and work in a user-friendly design. By sitting down in a VELA chair, you can perform your usual standing activities safely and comfortably without draining your energy. Thanks to soft and large wheels, it is easy to walk the chair around safely and smoothly, even on tiles and uneven floors. In addition, the chair comes in various seat heights to make sure it fits your size perfectly.

An easily accessible handbrake provides safety when performing daily activities, so you don’t have to worry about the chair moving away from under you.

Chair Height Range

Low

This height range is recommended for users who need to reach from e.g. base cabinets and up to tables/kitchen tables and still be able to easily 'walk' the chair around while sitting down.

Standard

Suitable for users who need extra height, so they can reach from e.g. kitchen table and up to low wall cabinets. The sitting height can be difficult to 'walk' around if the user is low or has reduced strength in the legs. For a safe sitting position, a footrest should also be selected.

High

Perfect for users who need to be able to reach up to high, they can reach e.g. kitchen table and up to the top shelves in the refrigerator or wall cabinets. Only tall users can 'walk' this chair around. For a safe sitting position, a footrest should also be selected.

Height Adjustment Controls

Upholstery Options

VELA offer a vast array of textiles that fit daily use and can withstand the regular wear-and-tear that happens over time.

Renewed Loop

Renewed Loop is made from 100% recycled polyester, containing 3-10% textile waste, and is fully recyclable. This textile meets the most demanding standards for quality and design, ensuring a long lifespan and excellent performance. The textile is certified by STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® and the EU Ecolabel for its environmentally friendly production.

Is a quality fabric that has good breathability and optimal seating comfort – even over many hours.

The fabric has a good abrasion resistance and can be cleaned. Not recommended for multiple users.

Compound

A durable and wear-resistant synthetic leather (100% polyurethane) with a comfortable surface. The seat can get a little 'warm', as synthetic leather is not breathable such as polyester or wool. It can be a little slippery to sit on. It is recommended for chairs with several users as it can be cleaned with soap, alcohol and chlorine solutions. Abrasion resistance: 100.000 Martindale.

Backrest Styles

A backrest shall provide support and stability at the lumbar and upper part of the pelvis so that the user receives support in the sitting position.

Body Supports

Body supports add additional stability for users who do not have the strength and stability to sit by themself. We recommend body support when the user cannot maintain their midline and also need firm support under the arms or if the person tends to fall to the side or forwards.

Backrest Extras

Push Bar

The push bar can easily be adjusted in angle, height, and depth to suit the person who is to push the chair. The push bar is easy to remove. We recommend a push bar if a helper or relative needs to transport a person, for example, to another room.

Electric backrest adjustment provides a gentle adjustment of the backrest. An advantage if the user has chronic pain in e.g. back.

Seat Covers

Dirt Cover

The cover is made of directional black velour (with foam backing), which prevents the user from sliding forward, but instead easily slides into the chair. Washable at 60°C.

Incontinence Cover

The cover is made of Black terry cloth with a polyurethane backing. Washable at 60°C.

Electric Seat Tilt

Electric seat tilt allows the user to painlessly switch between different sitting positions. This function can also contribute to a gentle electric sit to stand function.

Automated Sit-To-Stand Assistance

With automated sit-to-sand assistance, you get help to get up with the push of a button. Several electrical functions are activated, which help you get up safely: The chair's brake activates, the seat height raises, and the seat tilts forward. The chair gently supports you when standing up.

Belt Options

A belt can be used for several purposes but is typically used if the person tends to slide forward in the seat or otherwise has difficulty sitting by themself.

A belt can help position the pelvis to make it easier for the person to maintain their sitting position and support the lumbar and pelvis. A belt can also ensure that the person does not get up from the chair and thereby fall.

H - Chest Strap Belt

Is a soft and supportive upper body belt that helps to control the user’s upper body and provide good stability.

The H-belt only fits Contour large and X-large backrests.

The H-belt helps to maintain a good, sitting position despite spasticity or fatigue.

The H-belt ensures that the user does not slip forward in the seat.

Not compatible for use with Active Backrest S, M and All ALB Backrests.

Y - Hip Strap Belt

Is a comfortable 4-point hip belt that can be adjusted in length.

This belt lies comfortably over the thigh or hip and ensures that the person sits securely with good positioning of the pelvis so that the person does not slip forward in the seat.

Brake Selections

A reliable brake is an essential feature on the VELA chair, the brake creates the necessary stability and safety that makes activity, learning and independence possible.

The central brake provides a stable and safe seat for the day’s many different chores. The central brake also makes it safe to get up and sit down in the chair.

The brake must be easily accessible to the person who is going to use it. Therefore it is important to know who will use the chair’s brake.

It may be that the chair user is the only one that needs to use the brake, that only a helper must use the brake, or that everybody must have the possibility to brake the chair’s wheels.

If the floor is uneven or the person has involuntary movements, the chair may need brakes on all four wheels to have a completely safe chair.

This chair is, as standard, equipped with a combined foot brake/brake lever on the right side.

Description	This is the chairs standard brake. We recommend it if the person has no additional needs, and the chair is at standard height.	The extension handle extends the brake lever, making it easier to reach, compared to a standard brake. We recommend an extension handle if the person is mainly up high. An extension handle also makes it easier to brake the chair, as it requires less force than a standard brake handle.	The T-handle extends the brake level, and at the same time, makes it wider and easier to reach. We recommend this handle for people who have reduced mobility in the shoulders, arms or upper back. The T-handle makes it easier to brake the chair, as it requires less force than a standard brake handle.	We recommend an electric brake for people who cannot operate a standard brake lever but want to use the brake independently. The electric brake can ensure that the person is as self-sufficient as possible despite a physical disability - and is an advantage for both caregivers and the person.

Footrest Options

A footrest is often essential for the user to have an optimal sitting position. The feet must be supported when the user is sitting in the chair, so if the user cannot reach the floor while sitting, a footrest must be used.

The right footrest provides stability and security in the sitting position and reduces strain on the legs and body muscles while the user can maintain a good sitting position.

Description	Is located at the bottom of the frame and does not follow the seat height. It provides good support in all sitting positions where the user cannot reach the floor with its feet. The footrest is located above the right and/or left front wheel. The footrest can be rotated with the foot and provide support for a varied sitting position. The E legrest can be removed if needed and can be adjusted in length and footplate angle. Anti-Tip Bar                                                                             

We recommend an anti-tip bar on all chairs for users who have involuntary movements or uses the chair with a pedal exerciser. A 4-wheel brake is a benefit in those cases.
