What are blue light glasses?
Blue light glasses are a pair of glasses that anyone who does not wear glasses can put on their face while using screens or when they are around artificial LED lighting. When wearing blue light glasses, the short wavelength, high energy blue-violet light is filtered so that you can enjoy viewing your screen without the harmful effects such as visual stress, eye strain, headaches and poor sleep quality.
Blue light is a segment of the visible light spectrum responsible for keeping you alert. It’s naturally present in sunlight, but is also concentrated in the light that comes out of your digital devices – phones, tablets, laptops, everything! And that’s not a good thing.
Blue light penetrates your retinas, giving your brain a cue that it’s time to wake up and seize the day. But extended exposure to blue light can have a significant impact on our well-being – headaches, eye irritation and fatigue are all common symptoms of blue light exposure.
Plus, by restricting the production of melatonin (a chemical which helps us sleep), blue light disrupts your natural sleep cycles causing you to feel lethargic, irritable and unproductive.
That’s why Ocushield created blue-blocking glasses, Ocushield anti-blue light glasses block harmful blue light before it reaches your eyes. This keeps your eyes feeling fresh, reducing dryness and allowing you to focus for longer.
Developed by qualified optometrists, our FDA-registered anti-blue light glasses effectively block up to 99% of harmful UV & blue light emissions between 300-400nm and up to 54% of harmful blue light between 400-470nm.
Plus, by reducing your exposure to blue light in the evenings, Ocushield anti-blue light glasses will help you doze off easier and ensure a more restful night’s sleep.
The glasses are a unisex style and they measure 137mm wide (each lens is 51mm wide). The unisex shape and style make them a perfect fit for all face shapes and sizes.
